Mercedes-Benz built its reputation on over-engineering — and that engineering is exactly what makes proper, on-schedule service important. A well-maintained Mercedes is a 300,000-mile car. A neglected one becomes a money pit fast. The dealership knows how to service them; the dealership also knows what they can charge. Frank's Automotive in Seguin services Mercedes-Benz with the same diagnostic capability (Bosch + Mercedes-specific software, equivalent to XENTRY / Star Diagnosis) at independent-shop labor rates.

Mercedes-Benz issues we see most often

  • Airmatic / ADS air suspension — air bags, compressor, ride-height sensors all wear over time. Common on S-Class, GL/GLE/GLS, ML-Class
  • Engine mount failures — fluid-filled mounts collapse, causing vibration at idle and harsh shifts. Standard wear item around 80,000–120,000 miles
  • Transmission valve body / conductor plate — 722.9 7G-Tronic transmission, common service item. Often fixes harsh shifting before transmission replacement is needed
  • Differential and transfer-case fluid — Mercedes calls these "fill-for-life," which means "fill until it breaks"; we service them on a real schedule
  • Crankshaft position sensor failures — intermittent stalling, no-start
  • Balance shaft / idler gear failure on M272 V6 (early 2005-2008 models) — known design issue
  • Oil leaks at valve covers, rear main seal, oil cooler seals — common past 100,000 miles
