The F-150 has been the best-selling vehicle in America for more than four decades, and in Seguin you can see why — half the trucks pulling out of construction sites, fleet yards, and ranches around Guadalupe County are F-Series. Mustangs, Explorers, Expeditions, and the Escape round out a lineup that's everywhere. Frank's Automotive services Ford with the diagnostic depth required for the modern fleet — including EcoBoost, PowerStroke diesel, and the new generation of hybrids.
Ford issues we see most often
Patterns vary by engine family and era:
- 5.4L 3-valve Triton spark plug seizure (2004-2008 F-150, Expedition) — plugs literally break off in the head; specialized removal techniques avoid the alternative of a cylinder head replacement
- EcoBoost carbon buildup on intake valves (direct injection), wastegate actuator failures, and turbo issues. Walnut-blasting cleaning service typically needed every 60,000-80,000 miles
- 6F35 / 6F50 transmission torque-converter shudder — often caught by a fluid flush plus valve-body service before transmission replacement
- Coyote 5.0L oil leaks — rear main, valve covers, oil pan gasket are all known wear items
- F-150 transmission cooler line corrosion — a real issue at higher mileages
- PowerStroke 6.7L diesel — EGR cooler, glow plug, and injector issues on older models
- 5.0 and 3.5 EcoBoost oil consumption — varies by year and engine; document it if you're noticing it
