Dodge today is the performance side of Stellantis — Challenger, Charger, Durango, and the Hornet. The HEMI V8 in its various forms (5.7L, 6.4L Scat Pack, 6.2L supercharged Hellcat) is the engine most Dodge owners around Seguin care about, and it's the engine where we see the most service patterns. Frank's Automotive services Dodge with the diagnostic and mechanical depth to handle both the performance lineup and the older minivans and sedans still on Guadalupe County roads.
Dodge issues we see most often
- HEMI tick — 5.7L V8 worn cam follower / collapsed lifter, sometimes on the exhaust side. Cylinder-isolation diagnostics narrow it down
- HEMI MDS lifter failure — similar pattern to GM's AFM; an MDS-delete tune is a common part of the fix
- 8HP transmission (ZF 8-speed used in Challenger / Charger / Durango) — generally robust but needs real fluid service intervals, not the marketing "fill-for-life" claim
- PCM / TCM firmware updates — many Dodge driveability complaints are resolved by current calibrations; we check before condemning hardware
- Charger / Challenger driveshaft and U-joint wear on RWD/AWD models
- Durango ball joints — common at 100,000 miles
- Caravan / Grand Caravan transmission and electrical issues — common service items at high mileage
