Chevrolet's lineup runs from the Spark hatchback to the Silverado 3500HD, but the truck and full-size SUV side is where most of the volume sits in Texas. Around Seguin you'll see Silverados pulling trailers, Tahoes and Suburbans hauling kids and gear, Camaros at the Friday-night cruise, and Cruze and Malibu commuters running back and forth on I-10. Frank's Automotive services the full Chevrolet lineup with diagnostic depth on both the gas and Duramax diesel platforms.
Chevrolet issues we see most often
- AFM (Active Fuel Management) lifter failure on 5.3L and 6.2L V8s (2007-2016 especially) — lifter collapse causes misfire and eventual camshaft damage. Many of these repairs include an AFM-delete tune to prevent recurrence
- AC condenser leaks on Silverado, Tahoe, Suburban — refrigerant drops off, cooling weakens, and the leak can be hard to find without dye
- 6L80 / 6L90 transmission torque-converter shudder — fluid flush + valve-body service often catches it
- Duramax diesel injector wear at high mileage; replacement requires balanced fuel-pressure programming
- Power steering rack leaks on Silverado and Suburban
- Equinox / Terrain 2.4L oil consumption (Theta platform — different engine family from the Hyundai/Kia Theta, despite the name)
- Stabilitrak / Traction Control warning lights — often a wheel-speed sensor or steering-position sensor
